Frequently Asked Questions

We are open between 9am and 5pm Monday-Friday.

Restrictions for Entry:

Masks are mandatory
If you cannot or prefer not to wear a mask in the building, we we welcome you to use our curbside service. Just call us at the number below and we'll bring your items to you. Yes, we're happy to choose some items off the shelf for you too!

Hand sanitizer is mandatory
For the safety of our community, we ask that you use the hand sanitizer provided. You are welcome to use your own as long as we see you use it. If you're wearing gloves we will ask you to sanitize them as well or remove them and sanitize.

Computer time limit 30 min.
Our computer use is available at limited capacity. Because of the reduction in terminals, we ask that you limit your time to 30 min. If you need to work on school or work related projects, ask about our special exam room and computer.

Limited Capacity
We are open at limited capacity, you are welcome to sit, browse, and enjoy the space, but please be aware of the number of visitors in the library so everyone can enjoy the space. If we are at capacity, you'll be asked to wait outside. If there is a line, you may be asked to finish up.

Need to write an exam? 

We are now able to offer exam services by appointment. If you need us to proctor an exam, you must first check our availability. Any information you need to fill out forms for your school can be found at our proctoring page. You will be required to follow all the above restrictions for entry. Once your exam begins and you are in the room by yourself, you are welcome to remove your mask.

We've got you covered. Whether need to renew or sign up for the first time, library cards are FREE! Just visit our membership page to find out more. You are always welcome to phone us. 

eResources

Ebooks, eAudios, comics, magazines, papers, and homework help are all available with your library card. Visit our eLibrary page to find out everything we have to offer without even coming through our doors!

How do I get my books?

Face to Face
We are once again open for face to face services. Please see the current restrictions for entering the building.

Shipping Services
You can get your items shipped to you through Canada Post. We get a special rate, so don't feel bad about using it! Whatever is easiest for you is what we'd like to do!

Curb-Side Pickup
Some of you may need your materials faster than waiting for something to arrive through the mail! We've got you covered too. Use our curb-side pick up. 

  1. When you arrive at the library, give us a call.
  2. We will check out your materials then place them in the grey bin outside. Please make sure you stay in your car or by the street until we have gone back inside.
  3. Pick up your books from the bin, and enjoy! We always recommend wiping materials for extra safety.

Returns

We are still accepting materials in our outside book drop. However, if you are unable to return them, any materials due during our closure will not accumulate fines. You can also return books at our circulation desk.

Requests, Holds, and Physical Materials

We have a wide variety of books, DVDs, audiobooks and even video games available to you! You can call or email us with your book requests and we'll do our best to find specific titles or appropriate items for you off our library shelves. Once we have found your books, we will give you a call and arrange to get them to you! (some libraries are closed. If you aren't requesting items we have in stock, they may take longer to arrive. However, PRL will still be delivering us books from other libraries as long as they are sending them).

Here's how to let us know what you need!

  1. Visit our website's homepage.
  2. Search for the item you wish to borrow. 
  3. When you find an item, you can choose Place Request. 
  4. We will contact you when your item is available. You can pick it up via curbside or shipping (see above)

If you need items to support your home-schooling efforts, or even just need a book to read or DVD, we want to ensure that everyone in the community has access to the materials they need! If you would like materials mailed to youyou can contact us via email or phone and we will do our best to get them to you via Canada Post.

NEW: Curbside pick up now available for people who would like faster access to library services. Please call us to arrange and find out how to access this service. Unfortunately, hold service is now suspended for Alberta Wide Borrowing. You can still access our library materials though! we will be happy to pick items off our shelves for you! Just email us or call us!

Any items due during our closure will not be fined. Fines will be waived upon return of the items, please keep them as long as you need.

NEW: We are no longer able to accomodate exams. Please contact your institution for arrangements. 

As previously announced, all programs and room bookings are cancelled. We will do our best to reschedule programs and provide new dates for registered events. If participants cannot attend new dates, a full refund will be provided for any paid programs.
